Transmission
Creative and Art Direction
Inspired by the Devonshire Hunting Tapestries at the V&A, Transmission is a spectacular 21-meter-long fluid and free-standing three-dimensional tapestry made entirely from Alcantara®, the renowned Italian material. It was on display at the V&A museum between September and October 2017.
The installation was imagined in collaboration with Ross Lovegrove to mark the fifteenth edition of London's annual design event. Created using Alcantara, a tactile and pliable sustainable material, the soft undulating folds of the installation reflect and highlight both the colors and forms of medieval tapestries. The material's versatility is highlighted in the different methods of treatment, including digital printing, embossing and machine-controlled embroidery.
